CBSE cancels Class X exams, postpones Class XII exam in Oman, Middle East

Muscat: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled Class X board examinations and postponed a Class XII examination for schools in Oman and other Middle East countries due to the prevailing regional situation.

In a circular issued on March 5, the board said all Class X examinations scheduled from March 7 to March 11, 2026, stand cancelled. Exams that were earlier postponed on March 2, March 5 and March 6 have also been cancelled.

The board said the mode of declaration of results for Class X candidates in the Middle East will be notified later.

For Class XII, the examination scheduled on March 7 has been postponed. Revised dates will be announced later.

CBSE said it will review the situation on March 7 and issue further directions regarding examinations scheduled from March 9 onwards.

The circular applies to CBSE-affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Students have been advised to remain in close contact with their schools and follow official announcements.
