Muscat– The charter aviation sector in the Sultanate of Oman generated economic returns exceeding OMR30 million during the 2025 tourist season, including revenues from accommodation, transportation and tourist trips, excluding other airport-related services such as aircraft landing, parking and refueling fees.
Abdullah bin Saif Al-Saadi, Head of the Maritime and Air Tourism Department at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (Oman), said the 2025 tourist season recorded the operation of 588 charter flights, reflecting a notable expansion in operations and increased demand for travel to Oman. He added that the number of passengers traveling via charter flights during the same season reached about 93,000 passengers.
He explained that the charter aviation sector complements the ministry’s efforts to promote international travel by diversifying tourist markets and attracting visitors from different regions of the world. He stressed that the sector plays a key role in showcasing Oman’s heritage and tourism sites, while directly contributing to boosting tourism activity, increasing economic returns and raising hotel occupancy rates.
Al-Saadi also noted that the Polish market ranked first among the markets exporting charter flights to Oman, followed by the Czech and Italian markets. Promotional efforts have also succeeded in attracting new markets, including Russia and Belarus.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (Oman) continues to encourage investment in hotel construction, particularly beachside properties, to meet the needs of charter-flight tourists, enhance tourism services and stimulate regional development, while ensuring the sustainability of the sector and attracting high-income visitors.
