Muscat: An inspection team formed by the Ministry of Manpower in Tiwi in South Sharqiyah Governorate on Tuesday arrested 34 non-Omani individuals for violating the labour law.
A joint inspection team of the ministry monitored the non-Omani workforce for five days.
The campaign included Seeb, Baushar, Muttrah and Amerat, which concluded with the arrest of 20 labour law violators.
Similarly, a joint inspection team from the ministry arrested 384 people found in violation of the labour law between January 17 and 23.
Of these, 309 worked in the commercial sector, 26 in farming and 49 were domestic servants.
Going through the violations of those arrested, 180 of them had absconded, 162 were relieved of their duties, while 35 were referred to the ministry from other parties.
The Muscat Governorate recorded the highest number of violations during this period, with 123 arrested, while Dakhiliya Governorate followed with 57.
The concerned authorities within the Ministry of Manpower have initiated legal procedures regarding their cases.
Meanwhile, during the same week, the ministry deported 257 workers for violating of the labour law.
