Oman participates in GCC Economy meeting

Muscat--- Represented by the Ministry of Economy, the Sultanate of Oman today took part in the 9th meeting of the GCC Economic and Development Affairs Authority’s preparatory committee. The meeting was held at the ministerial level via videoconferencing.

Oman was represented at the meeting by Dr. Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, Minister of Economy.

The meeting was in pursuance of efforts made by GCC states to consolidate joint action and to develop the system of economic cooperation in a manner that achieves the desired goals of integration and advances sustainable development in the region in accordance with strategic approaches that keep pace with global developments.

The participants reviewed the decisions issued at the 19th consultative meeting of leaders of GCC states. They laid emphasis on prioritizing major strategic projects, notably the GCC Customs Union, the GCC Common Market and the GCC railway.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants stressed the need to maintain joint action and efforts to devise innovative solutions for accelerating economic integration among GCC states—with the prime objective of meeting the aspirations of the GCC people and achieving sustainable prosperity for all.
