Young Omani inventors secure gold and special awards at ITEX 2026, Malaysia

Muscat: Students from the Sultanate of Oman achieved new international success at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2026) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, winning gold medals and special awards in the fields of environment, information technology, communications and multimedia, reaffirming the excellence of Omani student talent and their ability to compete on the global stage.

Students Malak Mustahil Al Mustahil and Naseem Mohammed Al Jabri, from Khawla bint Hakim School (Grades 9–12) under the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate, won a gold medal in the environmental category, in addition to a special award from the University of Hafar Al-Batin in Saudi Arabia for the best innovation. Their project, titled “Roads Paved with Carbon Materials,” was supervised by teacher Maria Salem Al Gharbi.

Student Hamza Hassan Al Dughayshi, from Musa bin Ali School (Grades 7–12) under the Directorate General of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, received a gold medal in Information Technology, Communications and Multimedia, along with a special award from the Qassim Association for Creativity and Innovation in Saudi Arabia, for his innovation titled “Integrated Smart Development Board for Edge AI and Internet of Things Applications,” under the supervision of teacher Abdullah bin Salam Al Owaimri.

Students Khuzama Kahlan Al Shaqsi and Amasi Saeed Al Maashari, from Zubaida Umm Al Ameen School (Grades 9–12) under the Directorate General of Education in Muscat Governorate, also secured a gold medal in the environmental category for their innovation “Smart Green Battery Manufactured from Marine and Electronic Waste,” supervised by teacher Reham Abdullah Al Farsi.

The two students also received two special awards: the Young Innovator Award presented by Citizen Innovation Organization in Singapore, and an award from the Energy and Water Academy in Saudi Arabia.

The winning students are graduates of the National Olympiad for Scientific Innovation, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, implemented with support from OMIFCO, as part of efforts aimed at strengthening students’ capabilities in innovation, modern technologies and artificial intelligence.
