Muscat: Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) hosted a two-day Gaming Championship on June 9 and 10, 2026, attracting strong participation from students and gaming enthusiasts across the Muscat region.
Organized through MCBS’s Department of Student Affairs, the event was sponsored by RedBull Mobile and conducted by Squad UP, an Omani company specializing in gaming and e-sports experiences. The MCBS recreational area was transformed into a lively competition space, bringing together participants and spectators for two days of digital entertainment, competitive gameplay, and student interaction.
The championship recorded more than 80 registrations, including MCBS students and participants from other colleges and institutions. The turnout reflected the growing popularity of gaming and e-sports among young people, particularly as platforms for creativity, teamwork, digital skills, and friendly competition.
Throughout the event, players competed in a professionally managed setting, while spectators followed the matches and contributed to the energetic atmosphere. The championship also created opportunities for interaction among students from different institutions, adding a broader community dimension to the event.
The competition concluded with strong performances from MCBS students. Junaid Baktiyar Al Balushi secured first place, while Nawaf Al Makhmari won second place. Their performances stood out among a competitive field and highlighted the level of skill, focus, and competitiveness demonstrated during the championship.
Beyond the competition itself, the event pointed to the increasing role of e-sports and digital entertainment in student engagement. It also demonstrated how collaboration between academic institutions and industry partners can introduce students to emerging areas of technology, entertainment, and youth culture.
The championship was delivered through collaboration between MCBS, RedBull Mobile, Squad UP, and the teams involved in organizing and supporting the event. Its strong turnout and active participation underscored the growing appeal of student-centered activities that combine competition, digital innovation, and campus life.
