Bandar Seri Begawan: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, is participating in the Brunei International Book Fair 2026, which officially opened on Saturday in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, and will continue until July 21.
Through its participation, Oman is showcasing the richness of its cultural, literary and intellectual heritage to visitors from Brunei and beyond, while strengthening cultural cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The Ministry's pavilion features a wide selection of valuable books and publications spanning literature, intellectual thought, history and heritage in both Arabic and English. The collection reflects the diversity of Oman's cultural identity and highlights the country's contributions to literature, intellectual discourse and historical scholarship.
In addition to books, the pavilion includes promotional materials introducing visitors to Oman's tourism destinations, offering an opportunity to showcase the Sultanate's cultural landmarks, heritage sites and tourism potential alongside its intellectual achievements.
Oman's participation forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the longstanding cultural relations between the Sultanate and Brunei Darussalam. It also serves as a cultural bridge for presenting Omani publications and creative works at international book fairs and expanding their reach to new audiences.
The participation comes amid growing interest in Omani culture and the Arabic language within Bruneian society, providing an opportunity to deepen cultural dialogue and encourage greater cooperation and exchange between cultural institutions in both countries.
By taking part in international cultural events such as the Brunei International Book Fair, Oman continues to promote its literary and intellectual output globally while supporting broader cultural diplomacy efforts and reinforcing the objectives of preserving and sharing the nation's rich cultural heritage.
