Number of small, medium enterprises in Al Buraimi exceed 2,700

Al Buraimi: The number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) registered in Al Buraimi Governorate reached 2,708 by the end of 2025. Among these, 2,199 enterprises are registered in the SMEs Development Authority (Riyada) database, while 509 enterprises have obtained the Riyada card.

Khalfan Abdullah Al Kharousi, Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Department in the Al Buraimi Governorate, stated that these enterprises are distributed in terms of size into 2,268 micro-enterprises, 420 small enterprises, and 20 medium enterprises. He pointed out that the micro category represents the largest segment of these enterprises, reflecting the nature of a business environment that stimulates startups on the one hand, and the reliance on micro-activities during foundational stages on the other.

Regarding the sectors these activities focused on, Al Kharousi explained that the concentration was on wholesale and retail trade, vehicle repair, construction and building, manufacturing industries, administrative and support services, transport and storage, and professional, scientific, and technical activities, in addition to the accommodation and food services sector.

He indicated that the Al Buraimi Governorate witnessed growth in modern activities and creative, value-added service projects, most notably cafes and restaurants, women's tailoring and fashion design, beauty centers and cosmetics, tourism and entertainment services, as well as design and printing.

He added that these enterprises have contributed to supporting the local economy, stimulating supply chains, and raising competitiveness. He noted that there is continuous coordination with the General Secretariat of the Tender Board and the competent authorities to empower entrepreneurs with available opportunities in government procurement, contracts, and in-country value applications.

Concluding his statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), the Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Department in the Al Buraimi Governorate, affirmed that these enterprises have contributed to creating direct and indirect job opportunities for Omani youth through supply services and support activities. This is in addition to their contribution to promoting a culture of self-employment and developing the competencies of entrepreneurs through specialised consultations and training programs.
