OCCI organises exhibition for women entrepreneurs in North Al Batinah

Sohar: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in North Al Batinah Governorate is hosting the first edition of an exhibition codenamed “Makers” that features the business initiatives of Omani women entrepreneurs.

The exhibition, opened on Wednesday in the Wilayat of Sohar and will run until 8 August, is organised by the OCCI Businesswomen’s Committee in the Governorate.

The exhibition, which seeks to promote women’s entrepreneurship, provides a platform that brings together Omani women’s projects under one roof. It aims to showcase local products and services, enhance opportunities for establishing partnerships and open up new vistas of marketing in a manner that supports the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and augments their contribution to economic development.

Me’aad bint Khamis Al Shidi, Head of the OCCI Businesswomen’s Committee in North Al Batinah Governorate, said that the exhibition constitutes a podium for highlighting the efforts of women who turned their ideas into activities with an impact.

The event keeps pace with women’s passion to see their visions realised in the form of projects that cater to the needs of society, she added. “It is not just a commercial exhibition, but rather an experience that brings together innovation and ambition in an environment that celebrates the strong significance of Omani women’s business potential”, Me’aad said.

She explained that the exhibition also underlines the contribution of government and private establishments that support entrepreneurship, investors, members of the public and parties interested in the development of local business projects.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
