Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has updated the fee payment mechanism for a number of services provided through the Oman Business Platform, allowing beneficiaries to submit applications by paying a nominal fee and settle the remaining service fees after completing the application procedures.
The update covers commercial registry and commercial agency services and forms part of the ministry’s efforts to simplify procedures, develop digital government services and provide a more flexible and efficient experience for investors and business owners.
Mubarak bin Mohammed Al-Duhani, Director General of Planning, Official Spokesperson and Head of the Digital Transformation Team at the ministry, said the update is part of an ongoing programme to redesign services based on the needs of investors and employers.
He said the ministry’s approach to digital transformation focuses first on simplifying procedures and then using digital solutions to deliver services more efficiently and sustainably.
Al-Duhani added that the ministry is continuously reviewing the beneficiary journey, reducing steps and requirements and strengthening electronic integration among relevant entities, which contributes to improving the ease of doing business and the competitiveness of Oman’s business environment.
Data from the Oman Business Platform showed continued growth in the use of digital services, with 963,549 transactions completed through the platform from January to the end of September 2026.
During the same period, 35,907 new commercial registrations were issued, bringing the cumulative number of commercial registrations to 470,516. The number of registered commercial agencies reached 756, taking the cumulative total to 2,682, while 106,577 automatic licences were issued.
Hamid bin Hamad Al-Barashdi, Head of the Documentation and Authentication Department at the Commercial Registry Secretariat and a member of the ministry’s Digital Transformation Team, said the revised payment mechanism followed a review of the beneficiary journey for commercial registry and commercial agency services.
He said the new mechanism enables beneficiaries to begin transactions without paying the full fees upfront, requiring only a nominal payment when submitting an application, with the remaining fees paid after the transaction procedures are completed.
Al-Barashdi said the ministry will continue reviewing and developing services on the Oman Business Platform and expanding automation and automatic licensing, reducing manual intervention, speeding up transactions and improving services for investors and business owners.
