Oman foreign ministry rebuts fake tweet

Muscat: Oman has refuted a tweet by @world21news stating that Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah has not made any such statement.
The world21news tweet said that Alawi has condemned Saudi cleric Nimr Al Nimr’s execution along with 46 others on Saturday.
“The execution of Nimr will not resolve the issues and it will only increase the tension in the region,” the world21news tweet read.
However, on Sunday late night, Oman’s ministry of foreign affairs tweeted on its official twitter handle that Alawi has not made any such statement and the world21news tweet is a fake one.
Saudi Arabia had executed Nimr and 46 people after being convicted of terrorism offences.
Nimr has been reported as a vocal supporter of the anti-government protests that erupted in Eastern Saudi province in 2011.
