Muscat: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in step with its ‘Let’s Do More’ vision and partnership to promote Oman as a sporting nation, marked a celebration to inaugurate the 24th football field developed as part of their Green Sports initiative for Hayy Al Turath Sports Team in the wilayat of Nizwa.
Dr. Saleh bin Salim Al Busaidi, member of Majlis Addawla, was the guest of honour at the ceremony attended by dignitaries and senior bank officials.
Dr. Saleh bin Salim Al Busaidi congratulated Bank Muscat for the success achieved by the Green Sports initiative. Launched in 2012, the Green Sports has benefited a total of 63 sports teams till date. Marking the successful fifth year, the bank announced 15 new beneficiaries for 2016.
Hamdan Al Baimani, Regional Manager – Dakhiliyah, in is welcome speech reiterated the bank’s support to Oman’s youth in achieving sporting excellence for the country. "The support to develop modern sports infrastructure across the Sultanate complements the government efforts in building a sporting nation. The initiative benefiting communities, especially youth, is aimed at contributing to sustainable development and all-round progress in Oman," he said.
Shaikh Salem bin Hamed Al Mahrouqi, representing Hayy Al Turath Sports Team, said: “We are thankful to Bank Muscat for the Green Sports initiative, which has made vital contributions to creating an environment encouraging Omani sports talents. The unique initiative is a big support for the country’s youth and we are confident that many youngsters will benefit from this programme and become sporting heroes for the country.”
The scope of Green Sports support for sports teams include greening of football fields with natural or synthetic turf, floodlights or water desalination equipment in areas facing problems of water salinity. Providing wider representation, the Green Sports support has extended support to develop sustainable sports infrastructure in all parts of the Sultanate.
The consistent progress of the Green Sports initiative confirms the bank’s commitment to the programme aimed at providing ample opportunities for young Omanis to develop their sporting talents in an ideal environment. The programme is expected to go a long way in developing the sporting skills and talents of Omani youth, thereby promoting the game of football in Oman.
