Muscat bourse edges up amid poor volumes

Muscat: Oman’s MSM 30 Index remained stable on Sunday, albeit with poor volumes and closed at 5,464.69 points, up 0.05 per cent. The MSM Shariah Index gained 0.14 per cent to end at 841.47 points.
Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Takaful Oman, up 7.47 per cent was the top gainer, while Sembcorp Salalah was the top loser, down 4.08 per cent.
As many as 401 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR1.14 million with 7.05 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded securities, 12 advanced, 4 declined and 18 remained unchanged.
At the close of the session, foreign investors stayed net buyers to the tune of OMR54,000 worth of shares followed by Omani investors at OMR13,000 while GCC and Arab investors, who were net sellers, sold stocks amounting to OMR67,000.
Financial Index advanced 0.35 per cent to close at 7,080.65 points. Takaful Oman, Al Madina Takaful, NBO, Gulf Investment Service and Al Madina Investment gained 7.47 per cent, 4.29 per cent, 3.18 per cent, 1.90 per cent and 1.89 per cent respectively. Bank Nizwa, DBIH and Bank Muscat decreased 1.27 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index had marginal gain of 0.02 per cent to finish at 7,121.96 points. Construction Materials, up 3.57 per cent, was the only sector mover.
Services Index retreated 0.27 per cent to finish at 3,015.84 points. Oman Education & Training, Ooredoo and Port Services increased 2.70 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 1.22 per cent respectively. Sembcorp Salalah, down 4.08 per cent, was the only loser.
