Oman's State Council reviews report on women’s groups

Muscat: State Council yesterday discussed the report of the working group of the mechanism to develop the role of women’s associations.
The 15th meeting was chaired by Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council.
Dr. Suad bint Mohammed Al Lawatiya, Deputy State Council Chairman and Head of the Working Group reviewed the most important stages of the report preparation and the field visits by the group for a number of women’s associations.
The meeting discussed the issue of providing a presentation by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to the State Council for the development of food security system.
The State Council Chairman stressed that the presentation is part of the ongoing coordination between the Council and various government units in order to clarify the efforts made by the government and to support and strengthen the Council’s role in enriching the discourse around it, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said aimed at strengthening communication between State institutions.
The meeting touched on a number of reports, including the first coordination meeting between the Council of Ministers and the State Council Office, held on May 15, 2016 and the report of the first general session of the first sitting of the second legislative term (2016/2017) of the Arab Parliament.
The meeting reviewed the report of the Secretariat General of the Council on the number of general meetings, office meetings, meetings of the standing committees, and the report of the committee on education and research activities, as well as reviewing a report on field visits to the State Council by students of government schools.
The meeting reviewed the recommendations issued at the conclusion of the Third Conference of Arab Parliamentarians on Arab childhood, forwarded by the Foreign Ministry, Report of the World Economic Forum on the future of jobs (a strategy for employment, skills and labour force for the 4th industrial revolution) forwarded by the Ministry of Higher Education.
The meeting also reviewed a statistics on the work Coordination and Follow-up Department at the Office of the Secretary General, during 1st annual sitting of the 5th term and the report submitted by the Centre for Information and Research on the bi-annual report of the monitoring and statistics department.
