Listless trading on Muscat bourse

Muscat: Amid poor trading volumes, the MSM 30 Index ended on a flat note at 5,416.96 points, down by 0.01 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index gained 0.07 per cent to close at 839.81 points.
Al Hassan Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Oman Telecommunications Company led in turnover. Bank Nizwa was the top gainer, up by 1.30 per cent, while Global Financial Investment was top loser with a loss of 2.78 per cent.
As many as 242 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR1.88 million with 5.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 26 traded securities, four advanced, 6 declined and 16 remained unchanged. GCC and Arab investors stayed net buyers for OMR73,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR61,000 followed by Omani investors for OMR12,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index was stable at 6,994.22 points, down by 0.01 per cent. Bank Nizwa and Al Sharqia Investments increased by 1.30 per cent and 0.88 per cent, respectively. Global Financial Investment, Al Madina Investment, Al Madina Takaful and Bank Muscat declined by 2.78 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 0.50 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index stayed at 7,091.02 points, down by 0.01 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics gained 0.41 per cent. Al Hassan Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramics declined by 1.85 per cent and 0.68 per cent, respectively.
Services Index was unchanged at 3,008.27 points. Oman National Engineering, down by 0.67 per cent, was the only loser.
