Shihab improved steadily from the qualifying practice and right up to the final race to ultimately clinch the top honours.
In the qualifying practice session, the Omani boy recorded his best time of 40.801 in his tenth and final lap. That helped him to emerge the third fastest behind Jamie Day (40.479) and Ali Akabi (40.771).
In the Heats too, Shihab finished in the third place covering 12 laps in a time of 8:14.286 while Jamie continued to stay top in 8:13.075 followed by Ali in 8:13.979.
