Cricket: Uganda ease past Oman in opener

Muscat: Uganda proved too good for Oman in the UAE International Women's T20 Cricket Tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday.
Inexperienced Oman were up against tough Uganda in the tournament opener and the result proved to be one-sided with the African nation winning by a whopping 87 runs.
Calling the coin correctly, Uganda were off to a shaky start losing two quick wickets with just six runs on board, but opener Barabara (23) shored up the innings to take the total to 23.
However, there was another tremor which saw them go down to 61 for 7. From there Franklyn (35 not out) and Carol Namugenyi (23 not out) boosted the total to 126 for 7 by the end of 20 overs.
Oman's chase was far from convincing as the wickets fell like nine pins to fold up for a paltry 39. Oman's top scorer was their skipper Vaishali Jesrani (10).
Carol, who also claimed four wickets, was adjudged the woman of the match.
Oman will now face Kuwait on Thursday.
