Muscat: National bus operator Mwasalat is looking for a specialist to manage its fleet of taxis, which will be launched this year.
Mwasalat has floated a tender for system specialist vendors who can supply, install, and maintain a taxi management and booking system with a capacity to handle more than 250 taxis.
“The agreement will be for three years,” Mwasalat said.
The documents for the updated tender will be available until February 13, 2017 for a non-refundable fee of OMR330, while the final submission date is March 1, 2017, according to Mwasalat.
Firms or individuals providing taxi services within Oman, or contracting to taxi operators within the Sultanate of Oman are prohibited from participating in the tender.
A final design of the new Mwasalat taxis is now ready and is waiting for final approvals from the responsible authorities.
“The outer design of the Mwasalat taxis has been finalised and we are just waiting for the approval from the responsible authorities,” Ahmad bin Ali Al Bulushi, CEO of Mwasalat said recently.
“To begin with, the new taxis will operate in the Muscat Governorate, the Muscat International Airport and commercial centres, and will also be available on call,” he added.
So far, around 230 taxi drivers have been recruited at the malls and 200 in both, commercial centres and for on call services.
Mwasalat recently launched a tender for 118 buses – 85 for Muscat and 33 for intercity and replacement –and will announce the new routes once tender is awarded.
