Cultural programme at Oman's Indian School postponed

Muscat: A cultural programme scheduled to be held in Indian School Ghubra (ISG) has been postponed, the school said.
“We have postponed a cultural evening scheduled to be held in our school being hosted by His Excellency the Ambassador of India this evening due to the sad demise of E Ahamed, father of Rayees Ahmed, President, School Management Committee, Indian School Al Ghubra,” the school said in a statement.
E. Ahamed was an Indian politician who served as Minister of State for External Affairs in the Manmohan Singh government (2004–14).
He represented the Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency of Kerala and was the National President of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
On January 31, 2017, he suffered a cardiac arrest during the Indian President’s address to the joint sitting of Indian Parliament.
He was admitted critically in ICU in RML Hospital in New Delhi. On February 1, 2017, the hospital officially announced his death at 2.15 am (IST).
