Headed for Salalah? Airlines offering attractive fares

Muscat: There is good news for people heading to Salalah as the airlines are now offering “attractive fares” from Muscat, travel experts told the Times of Oman.
Oman’s first budget airline, SalamAir, is offering tickets to Salalah at OMR11 and to Dubai at OMR16.6.
“It is a good time to travel to the capital of Dhofar governorate as Oman Air is also offering one way ticket to Salalah at OMR20,” Lohithakshan Kizhakkayil, a travel consultant at the New Star International Travel and Tours LLC, said.
The national carrier is offering a variety of fares to Salalah–restricted economy class at OMR20, semi flex economy class at OMR27, flexible economy class at OMR36 and restricted business class at OMR84 from Muscat, as per their website.
SalamAir, on the other hand, is offering three kinds of fares for Muscat to Salalah– light fares from OMR11, friendly fares from OMR15 and flexi fares from OMR23.
Seasonal weather
The southern region of Dhofar is famous for its seasonal weather with cool summers and draws tourists from all over the globe.
The total spending by visitors to Salalah last year exceeded OMR65.66 million, a rise of 30 per cent over OMR50.42 million spent in 2015, said a statistical bulletin issued by the NCSI.
On the other hand, the number of visitors during this period increased by 26.8 per cent, reaching 652,986, compared with 514,777 visitors during the 2015 season.
Omani visitors, totalling 460,345, accounted for 70.5 per cent of the total visitors, followed by 17.5 per cent or 114,107 visitors from the Gulf, and 55,904 Asians.
Arab visitors numbered 17,333 while the number of European visitors stood at 3,499. There were 798 visitors from other countries as well.
