Muscat: A major growth was registered in the number of passengers being transported by the National Ferries Company (NFC) fleet during January 2017. It transported 19,771 passengers, including 442 passengers to the Iranian ports.
The NFC statistics pointed out that the number of vehicles shipped on the company’s ferries during January stood at 4,783.
The statistics showed that passengers on Khasab - Qeshm route stood at 195 during last January and Khasab - Bandar Abbas rout stood at 90 while Muscat - Chabahar rout stood at 157 passengers.
Nabhan bin Mohammed Al Nabhani, NFC Director of Media and Public Relations said that the regional routs witnessed a large turnout, such as Muscat - Chabahar rout, which witnessed 167 passengers last Tuesday.
He stressed that the NFC is seeking to enhance and develop the maritime transportation system between the two countries through conducting regular weekly journeys that would contribute in enhancing tourist and trade communication between the Sultanate and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
