Muscat: Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications has issued licences to operate call-taxi cabs for two companies in the Sultanate.
Ibtikar technology received a licence to operate taxis working for hotels of 3, 4 and 5-stars and Sultan Qaboos port. The service will be provided on-call in Muscat governorate.
Mwasalat will also operate taxis commuting people to and from shopping malls, airport and on-call services.
The ministry added that metered systems will be implemented in Oman taxis in the "coming period".
ROADS
At a cost of OMR1.2 billion, 37 road projects stretching up to 1,121 kilometers will be commenced in 2017, according to Salim bin Mohammed al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Transport.
The second phase of Batinah express way, 37 kilometres will be complete by end of month.
