Oman education: US fellowship for SQU academic

Muscat: Dr. Majid bin Salim Al Ruqaishi from the Department of Physics at the College of Science, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), received a research fellowship from the American National Academy of Sciences (NAS), which qualifies him to conduct advanced research in nanotechnology at the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign.
This achievement came after the participation of Dr. Majid bin Salim Al Ruqaishi last November as the keynote speaker at the Arab and American Pioneers Seminar in ‘Masdar’ Institute in the United Arab Emirates, where he met with researchers interested in nanotechnology from various American universities.
The American NAS announced in this seminar about the possibility of applying for this fellowship on certain conditions, including that the proposed research fits with research standards set by the American Academy and fits well with the university where the research will be conducted.
