Muscat: General Education Diploma exams for the first semester will be announced on Wednesday said the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education, approved the results for the first semester’s GED examinations.
According to the data provided by the Ministry of Education, 40,005 government school students sat the exams to which 82.37 percent was the pass rate.
Private school students registered a 91.22 percent pass rate where 1048 students sat the exams. 37 students at the Royal Guard Technical College all passed the exams, registering 100 percent pass rate.
162 students who sat for the Islamic studies examinations registered a 98.77 percent pass rate while 27 privately taught students registered an 80.77 percent pass rate.
The ministry said that the results will be available on Wednesday 15 February 2017 at 4pm local time and that students should send their sitting number via SMS to 90200.
The ministry also registered 200 violations from students. Exam supervisors found students with mobile phones in the exam hall and snippets of notes.
Students were also verbally and physically abusive. Other violations included people impersonating the student and sitting the exam, failure to present an ID and refusal for a search for any cheating materials.
The ministry said that they will deal with the violations by punishing the students in accordance with ministerial decision 588/2015.
