Oman's Majlis team discusses wastewater treatment law draft

Muscat: A draft law on wastewater treatment and reuse was discussed by a Majlis team on Tuesday.
The discussions came when the working team tasked with preparing the draft law held its 2nd meeting of the 2nd annual sitting of the 8th term under the chair of Dr. Salim bin Sulaiman Al Shukaili, Legal Adviser at the Majlis in the presence of academics from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Nizwa University and the Majlis staff.
The meeting discussed the mechanism followed to prepare the draft law and reviewing the initial structuring for the draft law and its approval after introducing some amendments.
The team decided to assign its legal members to develop the legal frame of the draft law, devising its chapters, terms and goals. Technical members of the team were also tasked to present proposals in relation to technical aspects of the draft law.
The working team was formed as per a proposal of the Food and Water Security Committee at the Majlis to introduce a draft law on regulating wastewater, treatment and reuse.
