Labour law violators held in Oman

Muscat: Four hundred and fifty-seven (457) Labour Law violators were arrested last week, the Ministry of Manpower announced.
Between February 5 and February 12, the ministry detained 491 labour law violators where 345 worked in the commercial sector, 66 were domestic workers and 80 were farmers.
Of the total registered, 457 were arrested and upon further investigations, the ministry found that 308 absconded from work followed by 140 workers who were released by their employers while nine were referred to the ministry by a third party.
North Al Batinah Governorate registered the highest count of labour law violators during the week with 152 while Muscat Governorate followed with 133 on record.
The ministry deported 389 labour law violators after liaising with their respective embassies.
