Muscat: A new initiative has been approved for addition to the existing 15 ones for the Sultanate's logistics sector.
The new initiative is related to establishing vocational society in coordination with stakeholders.
The approval came at the second meeting for the Logistic Sector Steering Committee held at the Ministry of Transport and Communications headquarters under the chair of Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications to follow up the outcomes of the logistics sector lab to enhance the diversification of sector.
The meeting reviewed the logistics sector initiatives, the challenges facing such initiatives and the suitable solutions to ensure proper implementation.
The meeting also reviewed the performance of indicators and the necessary measures to develop and implement them.
Challenges of the railway project, how to invest the strategic projects in pushing forward this project towards implementation to facilitate transport of goods to and from the Sultanate’s ports were also covered.
The Execution and Follow Up Support Unit is in charge of developing mechanisms and performance indicator to follow up the implementation of the sector initiative to ensure their implementation.
The meeting was attended by members of the Execution and Follow Up Support Unit, Eng. Hilal bin Mohammed al- Busaidi, CEO of the Public Authority for Mining, Eng. Abdul Rahman Al Hatmi, CEO of Oman International Logistic Group, Sheikh Ayman bin Ahmed Al Hosani, CEO of Oman Airport Management Company, Eng. Hanan bint Salim Al Rahbiyah, Director General of Planning and Studies at the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Eng. Mohammed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, CEO of Oman Logistic Services Company.
