Muscat: Heavy rain fell in Shinas and surrounding areas leading wadis to overflow, a weather enthusiast said.
“Rains fell in the afternoon. Wadis are overflowing,” Bader Ali Al Baddaei, an administrator of www.rathth.net, a local web-based forum that discusses weather in Oman, told the Times of Oman.
Earlier in the day, the Oman meteorology department tweeted on its official twitter handle that rain is expected in northern parts of Oman on Sunday afternoon.
“Isolated rain over northern governorates of the Sultanate, with chances of thundershowers and hail over Al Hajar Mountains,” the meteorology department’s tweet read.
In its weather bulletin, the meteorology department has also forecast poor visibility during thundershowers and fog patches.
On Saturday also, heavy rain fell in Rustaq and Nakhal areas leading to overflow of wadis and causing traffic jams in the areas.
