Muscat: Implementation of the Sultanate’s tourism sector initiatives and its challenges were discussed by the steering committee at a meeting for the sector on Wednesday.
The steering committee held its third meeting yesterday at the premises of the Ministry of Tourism under the chair of Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrazi, Minister of Tourism in the presence of the execution and follow up support unit team and representatives of the government departments and the private sector establishments.
The meeting reviewed the developments in the tourism sector initiatives and the challenges facing some initiatives.
It also discussed the initiative on establishment of Oman Tourism and Convention Office, which aimed to provide the maximum facilities and services required for the tourism sector.
Efforts, the incentives, conferences and exhibitions aimed to further enhance the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism for showcasing the Sultanate as a sustainable tourism destination, were also discussed.
The meeting also dealt with the key performance indicators of the initiatives among other issues.
It is worth mentioning that the steering committee through the economic diversification initiatives aimed to further develop the tourism sector, accelerate the pace of implementation of the plans in the field of tourism in a way that achieves economic diversification.
