Muscat: Share prices on the Muscat Securities Market edged down amid listless trading. The MSM 30 Index closed on a flat note at 5417.09 points, down by 0.08 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 858.38 points, down by 0.13 per cent.
Renaissance Services was the most active in terms of volume while Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) was the most active in terms of turnover. Voltamp Energy, up by 1.40 per cent, was the top gainer while OIFC was the top loser, down by 2.68 per cent.
As many as 352 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating a turnover of OMR1.62 million with 4.94 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded securities, five advanced, nine declined and 25 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers for OMR128,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR27,000, while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR155,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,505.37 points, down by 0.13 per cent. HSBC Bank Oman was the only gainer and was up by 1 per cent to close at 0.101. Al Batinah Development, United Finance, Al Sharqiya Invesmtent and Al Anwar Holding declined by 2.56 per cent, 1.60 per cent, 1.05 per cent and 0.58 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index ended at 6,769.14 points, down by 0.12 per cent. Voltamp Energy, Raysut Cement and Oman Flour Mills increased by 1.4 per cent, 0.5 per cent and 0.47 per cent, respectively. Jazeera Steel Product, Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramic declined by 2.78 per cent, 1.43 per cent and 0.66 per cent, respectively.
Services Index closed at 3,065.91 points, down by 0.11 per cent. Renaissance Services was the only gainer and was up by 0.61 per cent to close at OMR0.164. OIFC was the only loser in the sector and was down by 2.86 per cent to close at OMR0.204
