Muscat: A Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) student has won a prestigious award in Riyadh for his research work.
Nasser bin Saif al-Sa’adi, PhD student at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), received “Abdullah Al Ali Al Naim Award” for serving the history and archaeology of the Arabian Peninsula particularly for his research entitled "The Confiscation of Funds in Oman between the Political Situation and Economic Impact”.
The award is presented by the Society for History and Archeology in the GCC countries in Riyadh.
The study aims at shedding light on the motives and causes behind confiscation of funds, as well as revealing the impact of the political transition in issuing provisions of the acquisition of funds, and identifying the nature of the economic situation that accompanied the acquisition process and its impact on these provisions.
This award bears the name of Dr. Abdullah Al Ali Al Naim, the former secretary of Riyadh city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is granted each year for four scientific works in the history and archaeology of the Arabian Peninsula according to the conditions and procedures regulating it.
The objectives of the award are to encourage scholars and researchers, activate research writing in the history and archaeology of the Arabian Peninsula in various ages while contributing to the advancement of scientific research movement and the expansion of human knowledge on the history and heritage of the Arabian Peninsula.
