Muscat: There has been a fall in the number of vehicle registrations in Oman.
The number of new private vehicles, including those imported and registered temporarily, from the beginning of the year to end of March stood at 13, 751, a fall of 23.4 per cent against the same period last year. The number of new commercial vehicles for the same period stood at 3,596, a decrease of 38.4 per cent against the same period in 2016.
Registration of taxis fell to 99 vehicles until the end of March 2017, a decline of 33.1 per cent against the same period in 2016.
The vehicles of diplomatic corps fell by 21.1 per cent to 15 vehicles at the end of March 2017 against the same period in 2016.
Overall, the number of vehicles in the Sultanate stood at 1,387,139 at end of March, including 18,797 vehicles registered from January to end of March 2017, according to statistics from National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
