Muscat: School Transport and Safety Expo 2017 began at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday with the aim of contributing to the provision of services, products and wide options for those wishing to learn about latest developments in the field of modern and safe transportation of students. The exhibition continues until 9th May.
Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, chief guest stressed in a press statement the need to install sensor systems in school buses, which came after the ministry’s study on risks to students.
She said that there is a cooperation among several bodies in the state, society and bus owners, especially that they are aware of the importance of installing sensors in the buses.
She pointed out that the ministry has experience in this aspect in the project “Darb A’Salama” or “Safeway” in the Governorate of Muscat, hoping to expand gradually according to the available potentials.
The Minister of Education toured the exhibition, which hosts the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the Royal Oman Police (ROP), GPS suppliers and communication companies among other relevant institutions.
