Muscat: Scholars and experts discussed sustainability challenges and prospects at the first Oman Environment Forum on Wednesday.
The event, inaugurated by Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoud Al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, was held under the title: “Sustainability in the Omani Environment: Challenges and Prospects”.
“The forum is the first of its kind in the Sultanate and represents the effort of Office of the Conservation of the Environment in the Royal Diwan Court.
“The forum includes a number of experts, specialists and those interested in environmental affairs from inside and outside the Sultanate,” A Diwan official said.
Other than discussing research papers through panel discussions, the film “The Migrant Falcon Adham” will also be screened on both forum days. The film explores the efforts made in Oman to study and protect the migratory falcon in the islands of the Sea of Oman.
The forum also included a visit to all the “Ras Al Shajar” natural reserve in Qurayat on the first day. On Thursday, the group will visit the “Qurum Natural Reserve”
in Muscat.
