Muscat: “Thank you Muscat, you guys looked like a galaxy of stars! Another amazing concert, indeed,” said world famous Indian music director duo Salim-Sulaiman after a packed performance at City Amphitheatre, Qurum.
The brothers performed not just their popular numbers — 'Shukran Allah', 'Tauba tauba', 'Haule haule', 'Dance pe chance', 'Ishq wala love' and 'Ainvayi ainvayi' — but also other hits from the 1960s and 1970s. Such was their high energy as revellers danced non-stop since Salim-Sulaiman came on stage at 7.40 pm.
Commenting on the successful concert, Akshay Chowdhary, Director of Light and Shadow Enterprises said, “In recent years, Light and Shadow Enterprises has definitively raised the bar for entertainment in Muscat. Concerts, such as Temptations Reloaded with Shahrukh Khan and Katrina, Akon’s Live Concert and Salman Khan’s event, which we have done in the past, have proved our organisational skills, set-up abilities, production calibre and eye for detail. We are happy to add Salim-Sulaiman to the list, who are known for their power-packed performances all over the world.”
While girls danced to 'Aadat se majboor', the men enjoyed 'Ainvayi ainvayi'. The audience, a mix of young and old, were a little restless when Salim-Sulaiman took the stage. There were shouts of “Salim, you rock” and he answered, asking “Muscat are you ready for more?”
On stage, Salim and Sulaiman were dressed in black. While Sulaiman calmly swayed as he played his music, occasionally throwing his hands up in the air, Salim bounced about the stage like a firecracker, head banging, dancing and quivering with fervour. “But it was Salim’s infectious smile that left the audience hungry for more,” Akshay Chowdhary said.
Then there was complete silence when Salim-Sulaiman dedicated a song to the victims of the Peshawar attack.
December 16, 2014 was the day when terrorists took the lives of 141 children. “This tragic incident not only made our entire nation’s blood run cold, but also left a terrifying mark across the globe,” they said.
Moved by this attack, Salim-Sulaiman dedicated their new song, ‘Khaalipan’, to the victims of the Peshawar massacre.
Penned by the talented Amitabh Bhattacharya, the song is not only dedicated to the victims of Army Public School, but also highlights the issue of children’s mass deaths across the globe.
Then, Light and Shadow discovered a local talent, Kiran, who wowed the audience with her rendition of the 'Shukran Allah' song with the musician brothers.
Further, Vipul Mehta sang songs, such as 'Jalwa', 'Yeh hausla' and 'Haule haule', while Shraddha Pandit performed 'Halkat jawani', and then followed up with 'Mar jawa', and 'Dance pe Chance'.
Salim and Sulaiman then decided to jazz things up with 'Ainvayi ainvayi' and wrapped up the show with a dance number in Punjabi. The programme was brought to Oman by Oman’s event management agency, Light and Shadow Enterprises.
The presenter of the concert was Minara, a product of Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivatives (AVOD) S.A.O.G. Mitsubishi was driving the event.
Other sponsoring partners were R&B, Mobicell and Huawei. Tanuf Water and Effect was the official refreshment for the event, Tim Hortons, Jet Airways, Foodlands Restaurant, AXA Insurance, NABIL, Talentz Centre and the Times of Oman were supporting partners.
Special mentions go to the organisers for the production, arrangements and security. “The show started on time and was a three and half hour extravaganza in which everything proceeded smoothly. With this concert, Light and Shadow redefines events with the Salim-Sulaiman Concert,” audiences said.
