New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India will soon circulate one rupee notes while the existing notes and coins will also continue. The new notes, which have been printed by the government, will be pink-green in colour with the representation of the one rupee coin on the reverse of the note.
"These currency notes are legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act 2011," RBI said in a release. The new notes will bear the bilingual signature of economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das.
This move comes after the government introduced new Rs500 and Rs2,000 notes in November, last year as part of its demonetisation drive.
In the currency scrapping of 2016, the old notes of Rs500 and Rs1,000 were junked as the government tried to crackdown on black money.
