Muscat: Preparations are in place for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to receive the Busur Dates Crop from farmers for the year 2017.
This was stated by Awadh bin Said Al Alawi, Director of Commercial Affairs at the Ministry.
The Ministry has already prepared the Al Busur stores at Al Wadi Al Kabir on handling and processing the produce for 2017.
The Ministry has completed receiving the Al Busur crop last December 29 for last year for Al Mabsali, Al Madlouki and Abu Narinja dates, where the number of suppliers amounted to 324 supplying over 1, 610 tonnes.
He said that the company buying the Busur last year has marketed and exported most of the product. A big portion of Busur has been directly exported by farmers, for last year, he added.
A farmer who directly exports Busur product for 2017 would receive the government subsidy of OMR62. 500 per tonne of Busur dates, he added.
