Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Tourism, will participate in the International Maritime Exhibition (Grand Pavois, International In-Water Boat Show) in the French city of La Rochelle during the period from 27 September to 2 October.
The organisers of the event, which is ranked among the top five annual international exhibitions in boating, sailing and water sports, invited the Sultanate to be the guest of honour for this year's 2017 edition of the International Maritime Exhibition held at the port of (Port des Minimes) in La Rochelle on the French West Coast overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. This is the first time a country from the Middle East has received such an invitation.
The International Maritime Exhibition is a major platform in the marine tourism sector to promote the latest developments in the world of leisure navigation.
The 100,000 square meter area of Port des Minimes attracts more than 800 exhibitors from more than 30 countries around the world. Ninety thousand visitors a year of interested people from different countries of the world visit the exhibition.
The exhibition provides participants with good and quality commercial and marketing opportunities, allowing organisations and institutions involved in marine and recreational activities and services to present their products of modern and classic yachts, and boats.
The Sultanate's participation as the first country to be honored as a guest of honour from the Middle East at the International Maritime Exhibition in the French city of La Rochelle is represented by allocating 700 square meters to the Omani Ministry of Tourism to build the largest pavilion at the World Expo.
