Muscat: An additional section of the Al Batinah Expressway project is set to open soon, according to the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Plans are under way to open the Saham to Sohar section of the Al Batinah Expressway in the near future.
An official from the Ministry of Transport and Communications has said: “The ministry is seeking to open a section of the Al Batinah Expressway soon.”
“The section that will be opened will be the Saham to Sohar Road, in the North Al Batinah Governorate,” he added.
The Al Batinah Expressway project has been underway since 2015. The Muscat-Barka section was first opened, then the second section of Al Aqr-Khatmat Milahah, then the Bakrah–Hazm section, and lastly the Liwa-Shinas section.
The Batinah Expressway will start at the end of the Muscat Expressway and continue till Khatmat Malaha in wilayat Shinas and will have a total length of 272 kilometres.
The project includes a number of intersections to meet the traffic needs of wilayats in the South and North Al Batinah Governorates.
