Cancer conference in Oman from Wednesday

Muscat: The Ninth International Conference on Cancer Tumours organised by the Royal Hospital, represented by the National Center for Oncology, will start tomorrow (Wednesday) with 350 participants from the various health institutions in the Sultanate.
The event will be attended by 48 speakers from 15 countries including Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, India, USA, Italy, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, Albania and others.
The conference includes seven scientific sessions, during which 58 papers will be presented, highlighting many topics related to tumours,such as the methods of treatment and diagnosis of cancer, chemotherapy, cancer surgery, guided therapy, radiotherapy, nursing care and psychotherapy for patients with cancer during the treatment period.
The conference aims to inform participants about the latest developments in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment, exchanging experiences with senior doctors from around the world, raising awareness among practicing doctors and medical groups about how to deal with cancer according to the latest standards, raising general awareness of cancers and how to diagnose them, treatment and prevention.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the National Center for Oncology started its first workshop on economic financing for health care. Dr. Zoltan Kalou, president of the Institute of Economics at the University of Otvos Lorand, gave a presentation on ways to reduce the costs of the health sector while maintaining health care for patients. He gave a detailed explanation of the basic concepts of health economics and the importance of harnessing the foundations of technology to improve pharmaceutical policy decisions.
