Muscat: In line with its objective to support Omani government entities develop innovative e-Services, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) and Oracle signed at ITA’s headquarter on Sunday a number of agreements in various IT areas including creating a robust IT infrastructure for various e-Transformation projects as a part of e.oman strategy and SMEs development, in the presence of Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ITA and Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, Senior Vice President of Tech, Middle East and Africa, Oracle.
On this occasion, Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA said, “At ITA, we are focused on creating a modern government infrastructure that delivers swift, transparent and intuitive services to citizens, residents and visitors and engaging in such MoUs, will serve that purpose as Oracle has great G-Cloud solutions and accredited record in encouraging entrepreneurship”.
“Since its inception, the ITA Oman has been instrumental in driving digital transformation across various government entities in Oman,” said Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, Senior Vice President – Tech, Middle East and Africa, Oracle.“ITA’s G-cloud initiative is a key step towards delivering innovative citizen services and we ensure that Oracle’s modern, secure and cost-effective cloud suite will play a vital role to optimize every aspect of government operations”.
Furthermore, and in pursuit of continuous efforts by ITA in nurturing IT talents and promoting IT entrepreneurship n Oman, two agreements were signed between Oracle and ITA focusing on SMEs development, including supporting Sas Centre for Entrepreneurship, which is an incubation hub for entrepreneurs.
Under the entrepreneurship programme, Oracle will guide Omani startup on the importance of cloud technology to achieve business objectives, with mentoring programs, expert talks, workshops and also by providing access to Oracle Partner Network.
The other agreement is about the launch of Oracle’s IT graduate programme, which aims at creating customised programmes for Omani graduates to equip them with current and future skill sets including cloud technologies that will help them to build a career in Oman’s fast growing IT industry.
