Muscat: With the aim of promoting ICT entrepreneurship, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) has announced the registration phase for ‘Sas 48’ contest in collaboration with Bank Muscat.
The announcement was made at Bank Muscat headquarters, during the signing of an agreement with Bank Muscat to support the contest in the presence of Hassan Fida Al Lawati, director general of Digital Society Division at ITA, and Ahmed Omar Al Ojaili, senior assistant general manager - Business Solutions and Applications.
The Sas 48 contest aims at promoting entrepreneurship through encouraging young Omanis to turn their innovative ideas into reality and establishing emerging Omani companies in the ICT field, mobile applications in particular.
On this occasion, Hassan Fida Al Lawati said, “Sas 48 is an initiative, in which we seek to promote the spirit of competition and enthusiasm among young Omanis to engage in private business in the ICT field and entrepreneurship by demonstrating in 48 hours that they can produce promising and leading projects and that they are highly creative and innovative. At ITA, we appreciate Bank Muscat’s efforts and roles in supporting such competitions and encouraging entrepreneurship culture in Oman.”
Ahmed Omar Al Ojaili said, “As part of the ‘Let’s Do More’ vision and commitment to serving the Omani community, Bank Muscat is pleased to support promising Omani projects in different sectors, including the ICT field, due to its importance in boosting the development of the economy in the Sultanate. Sas 48 contest is a great initiative that targets an important segment of mobile apps developers, programmers and all those who are interested in technology and mobile apps development.”
Sas 48 contest targets 100 participants with different experience and background, including mobile app developers, programmers, entrepreneurs and marketers. The 48-hour contest will be held under the supervision of a specialised team. The participants will be divided into teams to work on various creative ideas in different areas like tourism, logistics support, open sources and other vital sectors.
The competition will be held at Bank Muscat headquarters from December 14 to 16. ITA will receive the contest applications until November 21.
