Muscat: Means to activate the mechanisms to further improve the efficiency of the labour market, technical education and vocational training were discussed at a meeting on the National Innovation Strategy attended by the officials of the Ministry of Manpower and The Research Council (TRC).
Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Hinai, Secretary General of TRC delivered a speech where he pointed out that states develop innovation systems and framework that provide platforms for research, development and marketing.
He highlighted the importance of effective integration among innovation related factors.
On her part, Dr. Sharifa bint Hamoud Al Harthiyah, Director of the National Innovation Strategy made a presentation on the National Innovation Strategy, which she said that it aims at creating a national system for innovation with standard vision and clear policy to achieve specific aims and preset priorities through carefully studies and balanced plans.
At this stage, the Strategy seeks to enhance the innovation mediums through a number of initiatives that ensures sustainability.
These initiatives include developing the national policies and legislations, establishing innovation incubators and research and development centres, transfer of technology, enhancing international communication, promoting innovation and creativity among Omani entrepreneurs, doubling the number of business & innovation incubators in universities and colleges and developing school curricula in a way that promotes science, mathematics and reading skills.
