In addition to the book, the authority website provides a screen reader service to convert written text into audio, to assist the blind.
Developments
“The authority is keen to keep abreast of developments in the field of computer technology by providing the screen reader service that converts normal text to audio-text, enabling the blind to listen and understand information on the Public Authority site,” said Faisal Al Farsi, Director of the Planning Department in Public Authority for Social Insurance.
Sheikha Aljassia from the Al Noor Association for the Blind note, “Providing a guide in braille will help blind people who work in the private sector to learn about their rights and duties.”
“This initiative comes in order to support the blind in their role in developing society. The importance of their involvement in the labour market, and the need to spread the social insurance culture and laws, will be helped by the guide, and also provide all insurance-related information when the blind join in any of the social insurance systems,” Al Farsi elaborated.
