Royal Opera House Muscat to host six season end stagings

Muscat: The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) will feature at least six concerts between April and May as part of its end of season performances before the holy month of Ramadhan begins in June.
Apart from the usual events, ROHM has added another performance in April to mark the Intentional Jazz Day, taking place on April 30. Initially, Natalie Cole was scheduled to perform on the occasion, however with her unexpected death earlier this year, and after the ROHM refunded the money for Cole’s concert, the Grammy Award-winning American Jazz singer, Al Jarreau has been engaged by ROHM to perform in Muscat on April 24 in an additional concert.
“ROHM recognises Jazz as one of the most important genres, and we had accordingly scheduled Natalie Cole to perform, but as her tragic and early death intervened, ROHM thought to find an additional concert for this occasion by inviting one of the most recognised Jazz artists-Al Jarreau,” said Umberto Fanni, director general at the ROHM during a press conference yesterday.
According to Fanni, Al Jarreau’s performance promises to be a night to remember, not only for Jazz lovers, but for all American pop lovers. “We are proud to have him at the opera house and ticket sales have already started, we are hoping that it will be a full house.”
Fanni also highlighted other performances that have been included for the end-of-season events. “There is a wonderful opera—a tale of love and poetry—with very high quality musicians, who will come together in the ‘Werther’ Opera. Then we have a nice family event from Germany with the Regensburger Boys Choir after which there is a symphonic concert also featuring Palestinian pianist Saleem Ashkar, who is one of the top 10 pianists in the world. Following this is a comic opera, a show and another concert before the holy month of Ramadan begins.”
Tickets for all the events can be purchased online at rohmuscat.org.om or at the ROHM box office.
