
Muscat: A number of expats have been arrested by authorities for manufacturing furniture using old and used wood, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection announced.
The arrests were made in cooperation with Public Prosecution and Barka Police Station
The Department of Consumer Protection in Barka arrested the expat workers, who were using large quantities of both old and used wood in order to manufacture furniture.
PACP received reports of expat workers storing and manufacturing furniture at a house in the Wilayat of Barka.
In light of this information, the house was monitored and inspected. After confirming the reports, the department immediately contacted the Public Prosecution in Barka.
The house was raided in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, with the expats arrested as a result, in addition to the illegal items being seized. The items included 43 sofas made of used wood, sewing machines, an electric and manual saw, as well as cutting and drilling tools.
