Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who had been suffering from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, passed away at the age of 65 on Monday.
Ranked by Forbes the 44th richest person in the world, Allen and his high school buddy Bill Gates founded Microsoft in 1975.
After leaving the company in 1983, he went on to fund everything from films, space travel, libraries, universities and brain research.
Technology created by his firm Vulcan is now used to track wildlife and trap poachers, in a bid to help protect some of the world's most endangered species.
