
Muscat: The ongoing Regional Cybersecurity Week 2018, that it being held in Kuwait, has given cybersecurity cooperation in the Arab world a boost, according to Oman's Information Technology Authority (ITA).
A statement by the ITA said, "This week was organised to increase cyber-security cooperation between Arab countries, and to identify coordinated methods to defend against cyber attacks."
The Sultanate participated at the conference with "a team consisting of three cyber-security experts" affiliated with the ITA, who went to insure "quick respose to security incidences, as well as to use new technology to counteract and repair hacking attempts."
A statement by the Information Telecommunication Union explained that the week included the 7th Regional Cyber-security Summit with the theme “Cyber-security Readiness in the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, the 6th Regional Cyber Drill ALERT (Applied Learning for Emergency Response Teams) which seeks to enhance emergency response, as well as the ITU Arab Study Group 17 and a meeting of the heads of Arab cybersecurity centres.
