Muscat: In an effort to ensure better environmental surveillance in the area, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs has signed an agreement with Sohar Industrial Port Company and Sohar Port and Freezone.
“The goal of this agreement is to reinforce the system for environmental surveillance in the surrounding area,” the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs said in a statement.
“The Sohar Industrial Port Company and the Freezone have made certain of implementing this direction according to the requirements of and under the supervision of the ministry, as well as in coordination with the companies working at the port and the freezone,” the statement added.
The deal is a collaboration between the ministry, the Sohar Industrial Port Company, and the Freezone, and aims to improve surveillance and management in the environmental field.
The deal is “to implement a long-term programme for the development of environmental management in the area and reinforce its operations in a way that aligns with international best practices,” the statement said.
The deal was signed by Najib Ali Al Rowas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, and Dr Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors at both the Sohar-based companies.
