Muscat: Germany’s Embassy in Muscat has clarified that regular passport holders will still need a Schengen-visa to travel to Germany.
“Referring to recent reports in the press on the Omani-German visa agreement signed on the March 2016, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany wishes to clarify that the agreement applies only to diplomatic, service and special passports and regular passport holders will still need a Schengen-visa to travel to Germany,” it said, in a statement on Monday.
It also said that the agreement has not yet entered into force as the ratification process is ongoing. “In view of the upcoming holiday season it is advised to book an appointment well in advance of the date of travel for travellers wishing to visit Germany,” it added.
